According to a post from a Nikonians member that spoke to a Nikon Rep in Norway (see post #2 on the link below), Nikon may not even be considering updating the 80-400mm:
"Today at a show in Norway, a Nikon rep claimed the current AF 80-400mm VR had a revival with the D3 and D700 because of higher ISO-capabilities."
Does this mean Nikon doesn't see a need to update the lens (since it's selling well already?), or would this increased demand move it higher up their priority list?
